Our Ambition

The David Peikoff Chair of Deaf Studies demonstrates leadership in Canada in the area of research and community development.

Western Canadian Centre for Deaf Studies (WCCDS) works with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities to support community capacity building.

Our Way of Thinking

The David Peikoff Chair of Deaf Studies and WCCDS are driven by the following core values:

      • Respect for d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing people regardless of language and communication preferences.
      • Incorporation of current literature and research into WCCDS and the Chair’s strategic planning.
      • Creation of professional and collegial relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
